About Lynne

A native Angelino, Lynne Friedman is a private chef, cake artist and writer in the Los Angeles area.

Prior to graduating culinary school in 2004, Friedman enjoyed a career in international business. A graduate of UCLA in mathematics/applied science with emphases in econometrics and business, Friedman started her career at KPMG Peat Marwick as a CPA. She helped to form Certified Industries International, Inc., a food and beer distributor in Moscow, and served as CFO. Then, at high tech company Partminer, Inc., Lynne worked as CFO in New York City and then in Europe heading up mergers and acquisitions. Subsequently, she joined a team of high tech consultants at Interconsult GmbH in Reit, Germany.

Extensive travel and dining in Europe, Moscow and New York City only served to fan the foodie flames originally ignited by her Burmese-born mother and Canadian-born father. After financial success in the world of high tech, Friedman went back to her passions: food and drink. Laser focused on taking the intimate dinner party to a new level, she creates authentic international menus for many private clients, charitable events and entertainment industry professionals.

Included in Friedman’s skill-set is personal wine making. From the ground up, she makes her own brand Rattle Creek Ranch (not yet available for sale) with Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, by stomping, fermenting and bottling on her property. She also practices the art of mixology, conceiving personalized cocktail recipes for clients with preferred and, sometimes meaningful, ingredients combined into a tasty, potent and smooth drinking experience.

Friedman crafts custom celebratory cakes of intricate and creative design, sometimes involving moving parts and illumination. The cake business evolved as a natural product of her love of engineering combined with her love of food, presentation and flair.

In addition to her gastronomic career, Friedman has written for various print publications including The Los Angeles Times and The Malibu Times Magazine and has recently contributed a food piece to the best-selling literary anthology Los Angeles in the 1970s: Weird Scenes inside the Goldmine. In it, she interweaves tales of her childhood food experiences with the culinary evolution in 1970s Los Angeles.

Friedman is also an experienced martial artist involved in the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has medalled in the National Championships and World Masters Championships. She enjoys skiing, diving and the company of her two children, Ian and Ava.
