Pip pip, jolly good game…
Croquet anyone? You can play it atop this pistachio cake, and all parts are edible. I molded the balls and tea cup from white chocolate, and dipped strawberry pocky in white chocolate for the wickets, pretzels in dark chocolate for the stake as well as the working mallet, which has a marshmallow head. The grass is condensed milk, buttercream frosting with almond essence.
Featured last weekend at a tea and croquet charity event for Mending Kids (one of my favorite organizations!), it was auctioned off along with other cakes by fabulous bakeries including the likes of Sweet Lady Jane and Viktor Benês. The “stakes” were high and I wanted to make it different…interactive. In the end, someone stepped up and bought the cakes—and a lot of lifesaving surgeries—for $20,000. Tickety-boo, I say, it was the bee’s knees!
