Setting a place in someone’s heart…
In each cake I make, I strive to surprise the honoree with a work that is unique to them, especially in the details. Here’s a cake I did last weekend for a wonderful friend, Heather Taras Greenbaum, a vineyard owner, famed for her creative table settings—really, “tablescapes.” It’s all edible, including the napkin, charger, placemat and wine bottle, except for the personalized keepsake plate on the top, with the special message, “Heather, you set a place in our hearts…” Note that the edible label on the wine bottle is her family’s wine label, altered for the occasion ?. In reference to her habit of drinking hot water with lemon at just about every meal, I molded the tea cup from white chocolate and shaped and scored the lemon slices from candy. Note, that Heather’s tablescapes tend to combine sleek and classy flower arrangements with fun touches like candy bars and M&Ms—truly a mirror to her personality: classy, yet down-home fun.
